England who are scheduled to take on South Africa in a three-match ODI and three-match T20I series in 2020, have named their squads for both the limited over series. The ODIs are on 4, 7 and 9 February and the T20s the following week on 12, 14, and 16, all following the conclusion of the four-match Test series, which starts on 26 December.

With T20 World Cup just around the corner, every team is trying to get their combination right for the upcoming ICC event in Australia. Amidst all this, the England selectors have left their Test skipper Joe Root out of the T20I squad for three-match series against South Africa.

The British pacer Liam Plunkett who was a part of England’s World Cup winning squad has been left out of squad for the three one-day internationals. All-rounder Moeen Ali on the other hand, who has opted to take a break from Test cricket, is in both squads.

Jofra Archer, Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes and Mark Wood are rested for the ODI series but will return for the T20Is, with national selector Ed Smith saying that both squads have been chosen "with an eye on the T20 World Cup".
