Two days after Graeme Smith became acting director of cricket at Cricket South Africa (CSA), Mark Boucher is being considered as the head coach.

There have been reports that former South African wicket-keeper Mark Boucher is all set to be announced as the interim coach of the national side. The news has come up just two days after Smith was appointed as the acting director of cricket at CSA. Boucher is being considered for the job because of his wonderful record with the Titans.

During his tenure as coach, the Titans have won a First-Class trophy, two one-day cups and two T20 tournaments. To add to it, two players from the squad, Aiden Markram and Lungi Ngidi have made it big at the international level.

With Boucher as head coach, the interim team director Enoch Nkwe will hold his position as the duo is keen to work together. Another important addition to the coaching staff will be the legend Jacques Kallis, who is expected to become South Africa’s new batting coach. Given these two key appointments, it can be said that Smith is already doing a wonderful job as the director.

The announcement is expected to happen on December 14 (Saturday). Mark Boucher, who has played 467 international matches and has a record 999 dismissals as a wicket-keeper, will be keen to take up his new role.
