Dwayne Bravo takes retirement u-turn, available for T20I selection

Bravo had announced his retirement last year, featuring previously for West Indies in 2016.

Dwayne Bravo | GettyWest Indies can pick him again for T20Is as veteran all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has taken a retirement u-turn, making himself available for the shortest format of the game.

Bravo, due to the fall out with previous West Indies Cricket (CWI) regime, announced his retirement last year, although he hasn't turned up in maroon since 2016.

"Today I confirm the announcement of my decision to return to International Cricket to all my fans and well wishers all around the world. It's no secret that this big announcement has come as a result of the changes made at the administration level," the 36-year-old said in a media release.

"For a while now I have been contemplating my return to international cricket and my decision was solidified by these positive changes. With the current leadership of coach Phil Simmons and captain Kieron Pollard I'm really excited about this come back and about the chance to be part of something really special," he added.

Bravo's return provides a major boost to an inexperienced side led by Kieron Pollard which just lost back to back series to Afghanistan and India.

"With a powerful team such as ours, we can definitely rebuild the WI T20I cricket team on and off the field and improve our rankings," he said. "I will remain fully committed to WI T20 team once selected. Thank you to all my fans and supporters for your continuous support as always."

Bravo has played 40 Tests, 164 ODIs and 66 T20I for West Indies and remains a popular figure in short-format leagues across the globe.
