In a battle to determine the table topper of the ongoing MSL 2019, Paarl Rocks rocked Nelson Mandela Bay Giants in a big encounter at St. George’s Park in Port Elizabeth.
Batting first after losing the toss, Rocks put on 166/7 on the board with James Vince making 37 and skipper Du Plessis making 27, while Henry Davids and Ferisco Adams making 23 runs apiece. Imran Tahir picked 2/17 for the Giants.

In reply, spinners Tabraiz Shamsi and Bjorn Fortuin picked wickets regularly, not giving a chance for the Giants’ batsmen to settle down. Ben Dunk made 45 and was dismissed hit wicket, while Matthew Breetzke made 22. Shamsi (2/24) and Fortuin (2/28) along with two wickets each by Adams, Udana and Viljoen kept the Giants to 135 runs in 19.4 overs.
Rocks won the match by 31 runs and went to the top of the points table with 19 points from 6 matches with four wins and one loss.
