Pakistan’s out-of-favor batsman Ahmed Shehzad has on Friday, November 22, insisted that he has no regrets in his career as he has “worked hard” for it.

The opening batsman further added that he has been working hard on his form for the last two years and even he has improved drastically while insisting that he is 100 percent honest with his efforts on his game and fitness and he will never compromise that.

On the back of some fine domestic performances, the 27-year-old had earned re-call to Pakistan side for Sri Lanka T20Is since 2018, but failed to grab the opportunity and was dropped after two unimpressive innings during home series, but he doesn’t regret being axed.

Speaking to media in Karachi, Shehzad said: “I can only try to give my best, the results are not always in my hands. What I have in my hands is my effort, my dedication, my hard work, and my discipline, and I can assure you that there won’t be any compromise on these things.”

The opening batsman continued, “I have learned one thing in my life, and that’s to give your best and give 100 percent to whatever you’re doing. I have worked hard in the last two years and if you’ll see my daily routine now, you’ll be impressed.”

Meanwhile, he called for more attention and importance to domestic and first-class cricket in Pakistan to improve the standard of the game in the country.

Ahmed signed off by saying, “The real cricket is test cricket and for the longer format of the game, you get players from first-class cricket. This cricket makes a player mature and it is important to give importance to domestic matches.”
