South African batsman David Miller, on Thursday, November 14, revealed that he had gone through some mental issues in the past and he had to take a break from the game and even he still looks after his mental state, as he has a lot of cricket left in him.

The mental health issues have come into the light after Australia’s all-rounder Glenn Maxwell took a break from the game due to mental illness and now Will Pucovski’s withdrawal from home Tests against Pakistan due to the same has given more attention to the issue.

Miller told Sport24.co.za, “I have taken some time off over the last couple of months. I have been in the Kruger (National Park) recently to just get away from the demands of the game.”

He signed off by saying, “It’s really important to look after your mental state during your career and it is something that moving forward I am going to pay a lot more attention to. Cricket is a sport that so much can go against you that you need to have time to reflect. Hopefully, I still have a lot of years left playing cricket but I want to make sure that I look after myself mentally.”
