Bangladesh cricketers, recently went on a strike as they demanded a pay rise from Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). As a result of the strike, the cricketers in main domestic league will see match payments almost doubled under a new deal that ended a player strike last week, the sport’s ruling body said on Monday (October 28).

A statement from Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said that the players in the top-tier of the National Cricket League will receive 60,000 taka which converts to $705 instead of 35,000 taka which converts to about $415 per four-day match.

Payments for the second-tier of the competition were increased to 50,000 Taka.

Players had demanded at least 100,000 taka per match when they called the strike which was called off after BCB accepted most of their demands. Other expenses were also increased as part of the deal, which ended a three-day strike started by players last week.

This strike brought Bangladesh’s tour of India in doubt, but now the squad is due to leave for India on Wednesday (30 October) for a three-match T20I series starting from Sunday (3 November) and a two-match Test series beginning from Thursday 14 November.
