AUS v SL 2019: David Warner calls Adelaide T20I performance the blueprint as Australia prepares for T20 World Cup

Australia beat Sri Lanka by 134 runs in first T20I at Adelaide.

Warner and Maxwell smashed Lankan bowlers to all parts of the Adelaide Oval ground | GettyAustralia defeated Sri Lanka by a record 134 runs in the first T20I match at Adelaide of the three-match series. This included Lankan bowler Kasun Rajitha going for a record 75 runs in 4 overs, while David Warner smashed a century, while Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell smashed fifties.

Sri Lankan batsmen couldn’t face the heat from Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Kane Richardson, as they ended their 20 overs on 99/9. Man of the Match David Warner was proud of the way Australia played in the match and called it the way forward as the team prepares for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 that will be played in their own backyard.

"We ought to come out and try to be positive with the bat. I think the way forward is exactly that. where we try and set the tone at the top, and then Maxi [Maxwell] coming in and doing what he does. For once, the plan actually came off. That was, all in all, a great batting performance, and obviously, the bowlers finished it off there,” Warner said.

Warner returned on home soil after one and a half years and he enjoyed every moment of it. He said, "It's always fantastic to get that. You sit back and watch on TV when you watch highlights of other people's packages and stuff, and you forget how much it actually drives you when you’re out there. We absolutely love the peoples' support, love the Australian crowd coming out and supporting us, and we always try and put on a show for them.

"They don't realize how much of an impact it has for us players when we're out there. When you've got that support behind a team, or you've got that support yourself, it's a massive boost in confidence for us and for the other people who are out there playing," Warner ended.
