Four of the six Pakistan Super League's franchises are against Misbah Ul Haq's potential involvement in the fifth edition of the T20 tournament earlier next year.

Former Pakistan captain Misbah was just recently appointed national team's chief selector as well as the head coach.

It is understood, in a recent meeting with the six franchises to finalise the categories of players for next month's players draft, a Pakistan Cricket Board official was told by at least four of them that if Misbah joins the league it will be considered a direct conflict of interest.

"These franchises made it clear they don't want Misbah to take part in the PSL in any capacity either as coach or director with any franchise as it would be a major conflict of interest," a source close to the matter was quoted as saying by PTI

The PSL franchises have always been against any outside interference; they had ensured previous chief selector Inzamam Ul Haq was dropped from the committee that finalised players list for draft. Inzamam also had to call off his distant association with one of those franchises.

"One franchise owner made the point that the PCB chairman Ehsan Mani himself has said that he couldn't remove Pakistan's former head coach Mickey Arthur and bowling coach Azhar Mahmood from the support staff of a franchise as they had got permission to take part in the PSL from the previous PCB chairman," the source added.

Two other franchises are in contact with Misbah to possibly take over as the team's coach or the director of cricket.

The agreement between Misbah and PCB allows the former to work for any PSL franchise but without any remuneration from the board.

PSL 2020 will be held entirely in Pakistan in the traditional February-March slot.
