Bangladesh's Test and T20I captain Shakib Al Hasan has evaded a legal proceeding for violating Bangladesh Cricket Board's terms and conditions but will have to still reply to the showcause notice sent to him over the matter, said BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury.

There is no grudge among the board members for Shakib despite him being at the forefront of a strike conducted by the country's top players until their 11-point demands were met.

But the star all-rounder on October 22 joined Grameenphone, a local telecom giant as their brand ambassador, which is against the board's clause part of each players' contract.

"It's an internal matter of the board and that's why there is no need to take any legal action against Shakib," Chowdhury was quoted as saying by a leading Bengali daily Prothom Aalo. "However, he certainly has to explain why he signed an endorsement deal which is in violation of the central contract."

BCB President Nazmul Hasan had earlier criticised Shakib for the breach and promised a legal course of action. "We are going into legal action," he had said. "We cannot spare anyone in this regard. We will ask for compensation. We will seek compensation from the company as well as from the player."

"Robi (Telecom) was our title sponsor and Grameenphone did not bid and instead they grabbed few cricketers by paying them TK One or Two Crores. What happened in the end? The board lost TK 90 Crores in three years."

Shakib is set to lead Bangladesh on the next month's tour of India where the national side plays three T20Is and two World Test Championship fixtures against the dominant hosts.
