Ranchi, Jharkhand’s famous son MS Dhoni has become an enigma for the cricket fans and administrators given that his future hangs in limbo after he wasn’t included in the Indian team for the Bangladesh series.

Dhoni is on sabbatical since the World Cup semi-final loss to New Zealand and was supposed to make his return with the Bangladesh T20I matches. However, amid all these speculations, Dhoni has been quietly giving back to the sport by opening cricket academies across the country as well as abroad. And Ranchi’s favorite son is now keen to open an academy in his hometown.

The former India captain wants to give back to his hometown and wants to open an academy in order to help budding cricketers hone their skills. “Aarka Sports, a company of Dhoni’s childhood friend and manager Mihir Diwakar, has been looking for a piece of land to open an academy and if all goes as per plan, we shall see an academy in the city in the next couple of years,” Sources close to developments told IANS.

The 38-year-old recently opened an academy in Indore and will be opening another one in Siliguri in the next couple of months. Besides, Dhoni also has academies running in the national capital, Patna, Bokaro, Nagpur, Varanasi and other cities in the country.

Recently, Dhoni was spotted in the JSCA Stadium where India defeated South Africa in the third Test match to clean sweep the series 3-0. He met with the Indian players in the dressing room and gave them a pep talk. New BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has cleared that the decision to retire solely rests with MS Dhoni, while head coach Ravi Shastri said, “Let me say this: MS Dhoni has earned the right to retire when he wants to. And let this debate end once and for all.”
