The largest cricket ground in the world, which is being built in Ahmedabad, is likely to hold its first match between India and World XI.

The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Australia will soon be replaced as the largest cricket stadium in the world by almost-ready Sardar Patel stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad. The new stadium in India has 10% more capacity than the MCG. While the MCG has a capacity of 1 lakh, the Sardar Patel stadium will have a capacity of 1.1 lakh.

Apart from these seats, it is believed that there will be 76 corporate boxes, four dressing rooms, three practice grounds, indoor practice pitches, a training center, and a 55-room clubhouse in the stadium campus. The Week has also reported that the estimated cost required to build the stadium was INR 700 crores. There will be LED lights installed everywhere in the venue and the venue will be ready to use by January 2020.

It is likely to host a T20 game between the Indian cricket team and the World XI in the first month of its establishment. Once this stadium will be active, it will push MCG out of the list of the Top 10 biggest stadiums in the world.
