ICC’s youngest ever umpire Lauren Agenbag made history as she became the first female umpire to officiate in a men's First-class game in South Africa last week.

The 23-year-old was appointed to stand in a match between the Central Gauteng Lions and Boland in the Cricket South Africa (CSA) Provincial three-day competition at the Wanderers Stadium last Thursday, as well as, the subsequent CSA Provincial one-day match between the same two sides on Sunday.

CSA’s Acting Director of Cricket, Corrie van Zyl stated on 22 October: “Lauren has become a standard-bearer for women’s umpiring in South Africa. She has shown that there is no limit to what can be achieved with the required dedication and determination to live one’s personal dreams.”

Corrie added, “I am sure she will inspire others to follow the path she has set.”

In February 2019, Agenbag also became South Africa's first-ever female umpire to officiate in a T20I, which was played between Sri Lanka and South Africa in Cape Town. She was also included in ICC's all-female panel at the Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier Final and play-offs last month.
