Sourav Ganguly on Wednesday (October 23) officially took over as the BCCI President. He spoke about the future of MS Dhoni and promised that everybody will be respected until he has the post.
Ganguly said, “It depends on him (Dhoni). Even when I was left out and when the entire world said he will never make it, I believed in myself and came back and played for four years. You know champions don’t finish quickly. I don’t know what’s in his mind and what he thinks about his career. So we will deal with that you know.”
He also praised Dhoni on the basis of what he has achieved and the entire country is proud of the man. Ganguly is also one of the best captains Team India has ever had and he knows what it takes to achieve what Dhoni did.
“He is one of the greats of the game and India is proud to have MS Dhoni over a period of time. If you even sit down and take a note of what he has done, you say, ‘Wow, MS Dhoni’,” the 47-year-old said.
Ganguly also shed some light when asked about Dhoni's retirement or whether he still has it in him to play at the international level. He also shared his personal experience about coming back to form and playing for four more years when very few of them expected him to.
“It depends on him. I have always said when I was left out and the entire world said ‘I will never make it’. I came back and played for four years,” he said.

Some of the legends of the game did not get a farewell game and had to leave the game rather unceremoniously. While some of the cricketers have been vocal about it, Ganguly has said that everybody will be respected under his reign.
“Till I am around, everybody will be respected and that doesn’t change.”
