Amid a lot of excitement, ICC T20 World Cup 2020 Qualifier is set to begin on Friday (October 18) with Scotland facing Singapore in the tournament opener.
Out of the participating 14 teams, top six sides of the Qualifier will make their way to the 2020 Men's T20 World Cup. Hosts UAE automatically qualify for the mega event, slated to be held in Australia in October-November next year.

A total of 51 matches will be played in the competition including the qualifiers, semi-final and final. The teams are split into two groups. While Bermuda, Singapore, Netherlands, Kenya, Papua New Guinea, Namibia and Scotland form Group A, Group B consists of Canada, UAE, Jersey, Hong Kong, Ireland, Nigeria and Oman.
The table-toppers of both groups will automatically reach the semi-finals while teams placed second and third in both groups will qualify for playoffs one and two. The winners of these playoffs will advance to the semi-final and will fight for their spot in the final.
The fourth-ranked teams from both the groups will then take on the sides who suffered loss in playoffs one and two. The winners qualify for the last two spots in World Cup and then go up against each other for the fifth place.
The six teams will enter the first round of ICC T20 World Cup 2020 with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh to qualify for the Super 12.
