Pakistan cricket captain Sarfaraz Ahmed could be reportedly asked by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to leave Test captaincy after the team’s dismal show in the recently concluded T20I series against Sri Lanka.

The cricketpakistan.com.pk has reported that the decision can be taken by the PCB chairman Ehsan Mani during a board meeting with Sarfraz next week.

It is being said that the wicket-keeper batsman is expected to continue to lead Pakistan until the scheduled T20I series against Australia in November, but now his captaincy is in doubt after Men in Green’s whitewash by Sri Lanka in the home series.

Further, besides T20 captaincy, Sarfaraz’s future as the Test captain is also in danger as the final decision on the matter will be taken next week’s meeting.

Meanwhile, there were voices for the removal of Sarfaraz as captain of the side after Pakistan's poor performance in the World Cup 2019, but PCB decided to stay with his across the formats, but the continual poor show might force the board to revive their decision.

Apart from his captaincy, Sarfaraz has been also under the radar for his own poor show, as several former cricketers suggested him to leave Test captaincy to focus on his own game.

Zaheer Abbas, Mohsin Khan, and Shahid Afridi have recently advised the current skipper to relinquish Test captaincy to focus on his batting.
