Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is reportedly looking to obtain the services of Pakistan legend Wasim Akram and Julian Wood, the British Power hitting coach, to train the national coaches and senior cricketers.

According to a report by Sri Lankan daily newspaper Ceylon Today, the discussions regarding the same is likely to get underway in the upcoming weeks, as the SLC has decided to rope in the services of the two in order to improve different aspects of the game in the country.

It is being said that Akram will be training coaches and senior members in the team, however, the legendary fast bowler's role would not be like a bowling coach and even he has reportedly shown interest in helping Sri Lankan bowlers.

On the other hand, Wood – the British coach who developed the power-hitting system, is also in radar of SLC to hire him to utilize modern tools in coaching as the Lankan board aiming to build the players and teams on par with modern technology and coaching tool.

While Akram is widely considered as one of the greatest fast bowlers in the world cricket with more than 900 international wickets to his name, Wood played first-class cricket for both Hampshire and Berkshire and went on to score around 1000 runs between 1989 and 1993.

Noteworthy, Sri Lanka is currently playing in the limited-overs series in Pakistan where they have already lost ODI series and will now play 3 T20Is in Lahore from October 5.
