England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) are set to confirm Ian Bell as England's batting coach for the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2020 to be staged in South Africa in January and February next year.

Bell, England’s fourth most run-scorer (13,331 runs) in international cricket, played his last international cricket match in November 2015, but he is still an active player in domestic cricket. However, the veteran will be 38 in April and is out of contract at Warwickshire in 2020.

The right-hander is currently out of England team but he is yet to call time on his career, while his contract with Warwickshire would be also ended at the end of the 2020 season and he would be certainly like to look forward to his coaching career after his playing career end.

The 37-year-old missed the entire 2019 county season after sustaining a foot injury during the Pakistan Super League in February, and now he plans to continue his playing career in 2020.

Now, Bell is likely to take up the batting coach role of England U19 side, and if he takes up the role, he will work under the head coach Jon Lewis.

England had a disappointing outing in the last edition of the 2018 World Cup finishing seventh-placed in the points table in New Zealand, where India won the trophy after beating Australia in the title clash.

In the upcoming edition of the U19 World Cup, where England haven’t qualified for the semifinals since 2006, the 16 teams will be competing under One Day International playing regulations.

Noteworthy, having made Test debut at 22, Bell represented England in 118 Tests and went on to score 7727 runs at 42.69, 5416 runs in 161 ODIs and retired as England’s highest ODI run-scorer in 2015.
