Gautam Gambhir says that Imran Khan should be debarred from sports community

Gambhir says Imran spoke as a role model for terrorists.

Pakistan PM Imran KhanImran Khan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan recently made a hysterical speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) 2019 and most of it was putting the blame of Kashmir situation on India after the Modi government removed the contentious Article 370 and 35A which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

Imran Khan’s speech went on for about 50 minutes, far exceeding the 15-20-minute time limit that leaders are expected to stick to. Out of the 50-minutes that he spoke from the podium of the UN General Assembly hall, half of his speech was on India and Kashmir, drumming up hysteria about nuclear war. He also said that there would be ‘bloodbath’ once the curfew is lifted from the Valley.

Meanwhile, the Indian PM Narendra Modi stuck to the limit and in his 16-minute speech talked about the country’s country's focus on initiating ambitious programs aimed at improving the lives of not only the 1.3 billion people of India but serving as an example to nations and citizens across the world.

Imran Khan was slammed by India in their reply at the UN and asked would Pakistan Prime Minister deny to the city of New York that he was an open defender of Osama bin Laden (mastermind of the 9/11 terror attack that killed nearly 3,000 people in New York).

This led to former India captain and BJP leader Gautam Gambhir taking to Twitter and taking a dig at Imran, saying, “Sportspeople are supposed to be role models. Of good behavior. Of Team spirit. Of ethics. Of strength of character. Recently in the UN, we also saw a former sportsperson speak up. As a role model for terrorists. @ImranKhanPTI should be excommunicated from sports community.
