Anushka Sharma is one proud wife as her husband and Indian captain Virat Kohli gives her many reasons to be proud of, including an initiative like the Indian Sports Honours.
‘Indian Sports Honours’ (ISH) is an initiative undertaken by Virat Kohli and supported by Sanjiv Goenka, to recognize and honor Indian athletes for their exceptional performances, sportsmanship, and spirit of sport through a felicitation ceremony. The second edition of the event took place on Friday.
Anushka Sharma praised Kohli for giving her many reasons to be proud of him and the ISH is one such reason. She said, “I am associated with this award ceremony because my husband is associated with it. I think it's a unique initiative where you give backing and support to upcoming and promising Indian athletes. I think Virat has given many reasons to be proud of but his foundation is another reason to feel prouder, because of the work being done. The awards ceremony covers all kind of sports and that increases the sporting culture”.
The Indian captain then talked about increasing the importance of sports culture in India. He said, “I think it is necessary to recognize sporting talent in India so, I am happy this award ceremony is taking place. It also provides scholarship to emerging sporting talent which I think is important to develop a sports culture in our country.”
