Former India player and MS Dhoni’s teammate Yuvraj Singh has come out in support of letting the former India captain when he wants to quit the game and stop the speculations on when Dhoni will retire.
He felt that the discussions on when Dhoni will call quits are unfair to him, though the 38-year-old has been on sabbatical since the semi-final of ICC World Cup 2019 when India lost to New Zealand. He has since missed the West Indies tour and home T20I series against South Africa and will miss the home series against Bangladesh as well.

“I think it's unfair to him. The guy (Dhoni) has done so much for Indian cricket. He has been the most successful Indian captain, so you got to give him time. He needs to decide when he wants to go out. He needs to take that call. If he wants to still play, that's his call and we need to respect that," Yuvraj said.
The Southpaw himself called time on his international career earlier this year at the age of 37. He felt once Dhoni retires, it will be difficult to replace him given his glovework and experience, which has helped the youngsters so far.
“MS Dhoni's replacement is going to take a lot of time,” Yuvraj signed off.
