CWC 2019: Yograj Singh accuses MS Dhoni of purposely losing semi-finals against New Zealand

It is not the first time MS Dhoni has been made the culprit by Yograj Singh.

Yuvraj Singh’s father and former cricketer Yograj Singh has once accused MS Dhoni of an ill-happening in Indian cricket. He feels Dhoni purposefully lost the World Cup semi-final for India.

The 61-year-old had formerly accused Dhoni of being the reason for his son Yuvraj Singh’s exclusion from the Indian team. Now, he has made another strong accusation on the former Indian skipper that he did not want any other Indian captain to win the World Cup for India.

In the semi-final, one of New Zealand’s best fielders, Martin Guptill got a direct hit from backward square leg to find MS Dhoni short of the crease by a few inches. That ended India’s hopes of qualifying for the all-important Final.

In a video interview with Times Now, Yograj said, “One boy (Ravindra Jadeja) comes and he starts playing the big shots at will without any worry. You are batting on the other end. You are telling him to play the shots while he was batting on 77. Before that, you told Hardik Pandya to take on the spinners.

He also questioned Dhoni’s ball-striking abilities and believes that he should have finished the game as he has a great experience of finishing games.

Mr. Mahendra Singh Dhoni, you have played so much cricket. Don’t you have any sense about what to do and what not? Did Yuvraj ever tell any other player to play the shots as you do? You got so many half-volleys, you hit huge sixes, what happened to you at that moment? Were you worried? You should have got out. What difference would it have made?” he added.

Yograj seems to always find Dhoni as the culprit for whatever bad decision Team India management takes. After Ambati Rayudu announced his retirement due to non-selection in the World Cup squad, Dhoni was held responsible by Yograj.

This will probably go on till the veteran cricketer announces his retirement from international cricket. Or maybe, he will be found announcing his retirement at the wrong time by ‘someone’. Who knows.
