Following Dawid Malan's withdrawal, Sussex batsman Phil Salt has received his first ever call-up to England's squad for the one-off T20I against Pakistan on Sunday (May 5). 

Malan suffered a muscular injury to his groin while playing the stand-alone ODI encounter in Dublin on Friday against Ireland and the left-hand batsman has been subsequently ruled out of this match. 

Born in Wales, Salt has replaced Malan in the 13-man squad which also features his county teammates Jofra Archer and Chris Jordan. The 22-year-old has been given this opportunity on the back of his form at the domestic level, where he has just helped Sussex Sharks win four of its first six matches of this summer's Royal London One-Day Cup, including an unbeaten 137 against Kent on April 21.

During last year's T20 Vitality Blast as well, Salt played a key role in his county's campaign till the final by amassing 355 runs at a strike rate of 172. He was the fourth-highest run-getter among England qualified players with more than 300 runs to their name.

Salt also featured as an overseas cricketer in previous winter's Abu Dhabi T20 and Pakistan Super League for Islamabad United.
