Global Canada T20 is setting its eye on getting bigger and better in its second season after a fairly wonderful inaugural season in 2018. The 2018 edition of the Global Canada T20 tournament saw a flurry of stars like Chris Gayle, Andre Russell, Steve Smith, David Warner, Sunil Narine, and Shahid Afridi coming together to enthrall the North-American audience with some high-quality cricket.

The second edition of the tournament will start late July after the end of the ICC World Cup 2019. GT20 is hoping for more eyeballs this season, given that its stars like Chris Gayle, David Warner, and Andre Russell are setting the ongoing IPL 2019 on fire. Gayle has played such wonderfully in this season, even scoring a magnificent 99*, while David Warner has scored more than 500 runs in this season with six fifties and one century to his name. Russell, on the other hand, has clobbered 41 sixes in 9 innings and has scored 392 runs at a strike rate of 217.77.

A tournament that was conceptualized and hosted in less than a months’ time did manage to draw some of the best of T20 players from all over the globe. The first edition was held at a relatively small ground of Maple Leaf CC in King City in Toronto with 7,000 seating capacity, while the organizers wanted a bigger hosting venue like centrally located Toronto Cricket Skating & Curling Club (TCSCC), the venue of the famous Sahara Cups between India and Pakistan.

GT20 hopes that the star power of these players and their performances in IPL 2019 will garner interest from the North-American audience and they also feel that such things will ensure more popularity for the League as compared to their inaugural season.

The owners of Global T20 league have now set their sights beyond North America with the launch of Euro T20 Slam featuring six city-based franchises from Ireland, Scotland, and the Netherlands. The tournament between August 30 to September 22 will feature 33 games in total.
