Australian all-rounder Moises Henriques can now play for Australia again as he has just made a timely return from struggles in his personal life which had led to a few psychological issues. The 32-year-old last featured in international cricket two years back but he has done really well in the Big Bash as well as the Sheffield Shield this summer.
"I think it should be but I can understand why it’s not as well," Henriques was quoted saying by the Wide World of Sports. "At the same time, I feel like I’ve been playing really good one day cricket for New South Wales for four or five years now."
"I think I’d be at the top of the runs and averages list every year, so I’m sure with performances like that you’d be somewhere in the conversation and especially if you can bowl as bit as well but I can understand that I’ve had some opportunities at that level as well."
The stress-related illness talked about here, saw him take a break from the game at the end of 2017. After which, Henriques underwent treatment for clinical depression. But now, the New South Wales lad self-acknowledges how an enhanced mental outlook is actually helping him enjoy his cricket even more.
"The only thing I’m disappointed about is that it took so long to make a change and to make such positive change but I’m just happy I did in the end," he added.
"I’m very happy for the experience that I went through because I just felt like it’s taught me so many good lessons that hopefully I can continue to use in my life and with any luck I can pass on to some of my teammates as well."
