Lt Gen Ravi Thodge excited to be part of Committee of Administrators

He will be joining Vinod Rai and Diana Edulji in the CoA to oversee affairs of BCCI.

Lt Gen Ravi Thodge will become the third member of CoA

Lt Gen Ravi Thodge has been appointed as the third member of the Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) running the BCCI and will join Vinod Rai and Diana Edulji.

“I am absolutely honored that I have been given this opportunity by the honorable SC to serve as CoA member,” Thodge, who is expected to attend Friday’s CoA meeting in New Delhi, told PTI.

I hope I can live up to whatever is expected of me. I have been actively involved in sporting activities during my time in the Indian Army. But yes, this is my first foray into sports administration,” he added.

Thodge, a Param Vishisht Seva Medal awardee, has been involved in counter-insurgency operations in Punjab, North East, and Jammu and Kashmir. He was commissioned into the into 1st Gorkha Rifles in 1977 and commanded the regiment’s 5th Battalion during the Kargil war.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had appointed senior lawyer PS Narsimha as Amicus Curiae. In 2017, the Supreme Court had appointed a four-member committee, headed by former CAG Vinod Rai to oversee the affairs of BCCI and to implement the reforms recommended by the Justice R M Lodha panel.

The other three members of the CoA were Edulji, historian Ramachandra Guha and banker Vikram Limaye. However, Limaye and Guha resigned from their posts and there have been public spats between Rai and Edulji over issues like sexual harassment charges against BCCI CEO Johri and appointment of women’s team coach recently.
