England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Thursday, February 21 announced the full details of their new eight teams city-based 100-ball competition to be played across five weeks during the summer of 2020.

The tournament will see games contested through 100 balls per each batting innings, along with an optional change of end for bowlers after 10 deliveries.

This development seems to have given Chief executive Tom Harrison a lot to grin for, as he said that ECB is "totally committed to the existing, popular forms of cricket. The Hundred will help cricket to reach more people."

"This new competition will help us to meet the ambitions of our game-wide strategy for 2020-24."

The new format was confirmed in November, while first-class counties voted 17-1 in its favour this week only. Surrey is learnt to be the sole opposer of the now well-renowned idea.

Here are the details of the format:

1) 100 balls per innings.

2) A change of ends after 10 balls.

3) Bowlers deliver either five or 10 consecutive balls.

4) Each bowler can deliver a maximum of 20 balls per game.

5) Each bowling side gets a strategic timeout of up to two and a half minutes.

6) A 25-ball powerplay start for each team.

7) Two fielders are allowed outside of the initial 30-yard circle during the powerplay.

Sanjay Patel, the managing director of The Hundred, said that organisers' next step will be to agree on team identities, such as names and kit colours.

The new competition will also feature a player draft, which is scheduled for this autumn. This draft would reportedly see 15 players slotted in each squad including three overseas players.
