After triumph down under, Pujara wishes to see India win the Test championship

Cheteshwar Pujara is not content with his heroics which paved way for India's maiden Test series win in Australia. He wants to clinch the first ever World Test Championship as well for his nation.

The highly dependable No.3 batsman earned "Player-of-the-Series" award for a legendary series that saw him aggregate 521 runs at an average of 74.43. And of course, one will never forget those marathon hundreds in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney. But Pujara is hungry for more.

He is eyeing a good start to India's campaign in the nine-team league competition during the tour of Caribbean in July.

"All of us are looking forward to the Test championship. We all started discussing about it," Pujara told Sportstar, "The first series after the World Cup, in West Indies, is a part of the World Test Championship. So we will be preparing well for that and will be hoping to win the Test championship."

India plays West Indies, New Zealand and Australia away and South Africa, Bangladesh and England at home across their six series in the first cycle that culminates with a final in the summer of 2021.

Meanwhile, Pujara also spoke about the mental shift that he constantly has to make from the international arena to domestic cricket for Saurashtra.

"It is always important to play domestic cricket," he said, "That is where I started learning this game and that is where I got my success. It is important to me."

"Saurashtra had an opportunity to win the Ranji Trophy. I tried my best, unfortunately, we lost in the finals but the team is built well. There are so many young players who are playing well. They have a bright future ahead."
