Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s rampant batting demonstration is an art which has no boundaries and the number of centuries embellishes his batting craft in all formats of the game, and his latest achievements were the greatest reward of his masterclass in the game of cricket.

On Tuesday, Kohli became the first player to have been honored with all three major International Cricket Council (ICC) awards - ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year, Test Cricketer of the Year and Cricketer of the Year, and Sunil Gavaskar was all in praise for the dashing right-hander. He was also named the captain of the ICC's Test and ODI Teams of the Year.

The 30-year-old enjoyed a phenomenal time last year 2018 with the bat, as he cracked 11 international hundreds - 6 in ODIs and 5 in Tests, scoring 1202 runs in 14 ODIs and 1322 runs in 13 Tests.

Kohli, who was named ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year and Cricketer of the Year in 2018, won all three major awards this time and became only the third man to win the ICC Cricketer of the Year twice and the second to win it in consecutive years.

Meanwhile, Gavaskar, former Indian skipper, lauded the stylish batsman, saying Kohli's rich haul at the ICC awards was a proud moment for Indian cricket.

Gavaskar told India Today on Tuesday, “This is such a proud moment for fans of Indian cricket and former players and players aspiring to represent India. It shows when there's hard work, a player can reach the pinnacle.”

He signed off by saying, “This is a massive achievement. The last one year has been tremendous for Virat Kohli. Nobody is anywhere close to Kohli.”

Noteworthy, Kohli is currently in New Zealand for the limited overs tour which has begun with the first One Day International of the five-match series followed by 3 T20Is in Napier on Wednesday (January 23).
