Courtney Walsh, fast-bowling coach of Bangladesh Cricket Team, has mixed emotions after Tigers registered a thumping 2-0 win over West Indies in the two-match Test series, saying he is happy with the victory, but as a West Indian, he is disappointed the way the Caribbean surrendered themselves here.

Bangladesh registered their first-ever win by an innings margin against any opposition in its 112-Test history after they thrashed West Indies by an innings and 184 runs in the second Test to clinch the Test series 2-0 after winning the first Test by 64 runs to clinch the Test series at home.

The Jamaican cricketing giant –Walsh, who was the first bowler to take 500 wickets in Tests and ended with 519 Test wickets for the West Indies, said the thumping was bittersweet after Bangladesh routed Windies 2-0 in Test series.

Walsh told reporters in Dhaka, “I might say that I am disappointed with probably how things have unfolded, but I am very happy to be involved with Bangladesh. We are in a winning situation, so my pride is intact. As a West Indian, you are going to be disappointed in the performance.”

Bangladesh fielded only fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman, who bowled just four overs in the first Test match, leaving the spinners –Shakib Al Hasan, Mehidy Hasan, Taijul Islam, and Nayeem Hasan to dominate, accounting for all 40 wickets, to record a Test series.

Walsh signed off by saying, “Tactically, we wanted to play more spinners to win a Test and the series. It was achieved. Hopefully, when we go to New Zealand, the seamers might get a better opportunity. We might get different types of the wicket, and they should want to grab those opportunities as well.”
