In wake of Australia's continuous struggles with the willow across all formats of the game, it is time to move forward and look beyond the current batting consultant Graeme Hick, feels the great leg-spinner, Shane Warne.

Extremely disappointed with the performance during the just concluded limited overs home series against Australia and worried about the prospect of facing India soon, Warne lashed out strong criticism on the former English cricketer, who seemed to have had very little influence on the team's fortunes.

“There has to be a reason why they continue to play the wrong shot," Warne was quoted saying on Sydney Morning Herald, “Why suddenly in Australian cricket are the batsmen making these wrong decisions consistently in all the games in tough situations? The batting is struggling all the time."

"Is it something we have to look at Graeme Hick and say ‘what are you telling these guys?’”

While Australia's batting problems are result of deeper flaws in decision making at the junior as well as the domestic level and goes beyond repairing by one change in personnel, the absence of Steve Smith and David Warner hasn't helped either.

The issue is so alarming that, probably for the first time ever, the country doesn't exactly know who its top six is ahead of a home Test summer.

“Maybe it’s time for a change there and we get a new batting coach because the batters aren’t performing,” but Warne stated, “At Cricket Australia we’re seeing directors and board members go, coaches and everyone else go, maybe it’s time for the batting coach.”
