Bangladesh star opener Tamim Iqbal is hoping to return to action in the series opener of the two-match Test series against the West Indies starting from November 22 in Chittagong.

The left-hander, who has been out of action since the Asia Cup 2018 in the UAE with a broken wrist, is working hard to make a comeback into the game and even he was targeting the second Test against Zimbabwe for his comeback, he felt he wasn’t ready as yet.

Last week, the 29-year-old started batting with drills against spin bowling and termed it as only ‘semi-batting’ at the moment and is hoping to get full-fledged nets in the next three days.

Tamim told reporters on Tuesday, “I think I will be fit for the first Test [against West Indies]. I always wanted to play the second Test against Zimbabwe; at least that was the plan three or four weeks ago. I’m not ready and I don’t think the physio will even permit me. It has just been three days of batting against spin bowling and the dog-stick. It is actually semi-batting what I am doing right now. Unless I start full-fledged nets, it won’t be fair for the team to declare myself fit.”

He signed off by saying, “I haven’t had a full net session. There’s a lot of difference between playing 130-140kph and playing against spin and the dog-stick. As of now, things are looking very positive. In the next three days, there’s going to be a full net session, after which I can tell where I am at.”
