Virender Sehwag has been named as one of the Icons for the second edition of the T10 League –world’s first ten-over franchise tournament, which will get underway from November 23, 2018.
Besides former Indian opener, Pakistan's Shahid Afridi and New Zealand’s Brendon McCullum have also been named as other Icons for the T10 League, which has been sanctioned by the ICC and licensed by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
In the 2018 edition of the tournament, eight teams –Kerala Kings, Punjab Legends, Maratha Arabians, Bengal Tigers, The Karachians, Rajputs, Northern Warriors, and Pakhtoons will compete in 29 matches to be held over 10 days as compared to the four-day event in the last season. The event will be held at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium from November 23 to December 2, 2018.
Meanwhile, the T10 League administration has made many positive changes in a bid to meet this new challenge as well as keep the event clean, as they formed a new governing council, appointed Umpires from the ICC panel while getting a global auditing firm for the coming season.
The T10 League has also named Roshan Mahanama and Wasim Akram as Head of the Technical Committee and Director of Talent Hunt programme respectively.
The Karachians and Northern Warriors are the two new teams that have been added to the list of the earlier six teams for the 2018 edition of the T10 League, while Shane Watson, Shahid Afridi, Eoin Morgan, Rasheed Khan, Shoaib Malik, Sunil Narine, Darren Sammy will be part of the event.
