Former Sri Lanka cricketer Tillakaratne Dilshan has hinted on Wednesday (September 19) at his return to International cricket after Islanders' continuous struggle on the field.

The opening batsman, who’s famous for his gutsy ‘Dilscoop’, had announced his retirement from the game in 2016 with certain issues, having last played for Sri Lanka in September 2016 in T20Is against Australia.

Ever since the legendary cricketers Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene retired from the game, Sri Lanka’s struggles have not come to an end and the year 2017 was the most disastrous for Lankans, who have been continuously troubling to find success with the current squad.

In the ongoing Asia Cup 2018 in the UAE, Sri Lanka struggled despite the presence of their strike bowler Lasith Malinga, as they have been knocked out of the tournament after suffering defeats at the hands of both Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

Following the downfall of Lankan cricket, Tillakaratne can take back his retirement and return to International Cricket in a bid to help to revitalize cricket in his country.

Azzam Ameen, a reporter and producer at the BBC, went on social media to reveal that the former Lankan opener is thinking of a comeback. He wrote on Twitter, “Former Sri Lankan Cricketer TM Dilshan (42) has hinted he could return to International Cricket since the national team is struggling. He told Lak FM radio that he wanted to play until 2019 World-cup but due to certain issues he had to retire earlier.”

Noteworthy, Dilshan was recently involved in the St. Moritz Ice Cricket tournament in Switzerland and in the Hong Kong Twenty20 Blitz in 2017, representing City Kaitak.
