Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is hopeful of having their premier all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan for the upcoming Asia Cup 2018 to be held in the United Arab Emirates from September 15.

However, BCB President Nazmul Hassan has given the green signal to Shakib to go ahead with the surgery on his injured finger but the board did not have any update concerning the surgery.

Shakib who has been thinking of the surgery on his little finger that he injured during the tri-series featuring Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka in January, was included in the 31-man preliminary squad of Bangladesh for the Asia Cup 2018.

However, the Bangladesh Chief Selector Minhajul Abedin said that they don’t have any update on Shakib's surgery and due to which they expected that the all-rounder will take part in the preparation camp for the multi-nation event in Dubai that will begin from 27 August.

As per reports in Cricket Next, Abedin told reporters, “We do not have any update of surgery yet, so we have not thought of a replacement, to be honest. We will start thinking about it as soon as we have an update of his surgery. The camp starts on August 27 and we hope he will be able to join the camp.”

Noteworthy, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka are in one group and are set to open their Asia Cup 2018 campaign against Sri Lanka, which will be the first match of the event in Dubai on 15 September.
