Pakistan and Australia are the first and second ranked T20I teams respectively. However, there’s a stark difference between their mental states as far as their performance on the cricket pitch is concerned. Following the ball-tampering scandal in March, the Aussies have lost eight international matches on the trot. Their last tour of England was a catastrophe. This series will give the Aussies enough time to figure out the kind of line-up they should play, in the current scenario and with the resources they have in hand. Sarfraz Ahmed and his men, following their victory versus Zimbabwe are brimming with confidence and the team will be itching to carry on with their winning streak. Their batsmen were clinical and the bowlers followed it up by getting a stranglehold on the opponents.

Best economical pick – Pakistani Leg-spinner Shadab Khan, who took 1/29 in the first game of Tri Series against Zimababwe, will once again be the go-to man for Pakistan against the Aussies.

Top captains & vice captains – Shoaib Malik became the first Asian and third overall batsman to score 2000 runs in T20 Internationals.Shoaib Malik came in to bat when someone needed to stay with Fakhar and guide his team to a formidable total in the first T20I. The Sialkot-born batsman brought all his experience to the fore and carved a breezy stand of 42 runs in 24 balls. Glenn Maxwell started the England tour with a half-century, but couldn’t make any significant contribution thereafter with the willow. The Australian cricketing fraternity has been concerned with the middle-order batsman and he needs to hit his straps in the next match. There’s no doubt surrounding his potentiality and Sarfraz and Co. won’t undermine him.

Smart pick – Hasan Ali has been one of Pakistan’s gun bowlers in the T20 format. In the first match, he was a tad expensive but picked up a couple crucial wickets in Hamilton Masakadza and Elton Chigumbura, who are two of Zimbabwe’s most experienced cricketers. His variations in pace are expected to create trouble for the Aussies.

Cautious Pick – Hussain Talat has been playing very slow and getting out after scoring merely 10 to 20 runs in his last 4 T20 Internationals. In the first match against Zimbabwe Talat perished in the seventh over as Chamu Chibhabha picked up his first wicket when the batsman tried to steer the ball down to the third man only to find the gloves of Peter Moor.

My XI – Shoaib Malik (Captain), Glenn Maxwell (Vice-Captain), Shadab Khan, Hasan Ali, Billy Stanlake, Aaron Finch,Mohammad Nawaz, Sarfraz Ahmed, Asif Ali, Mitchell Swepson, D'arcy Short
