West Indies Captain Jason Holder has gained massively in the ICC Test Player Rankings after his brilliant all-round effort in the just-concluded Test series at home against Sri Lanka. Holder was very good in the whole series that his side managed to draw 1-1, but it was his performance in the last Test at Barbados that stood out.

According to rankings released by the game's governing body, ICC, Holder has moved up 10 places to take 54th position among batsmen after scores of 74 and 15, while his impressive match haul of 9/60 has lifted him 11 places to a career-best 25th position among bowlers. The admirable youngster has made a jump to 3rd in the all-rounder's list too.

Holder's teammate and young Caribbean batsman, Shane Dowrich has also gained 14 places to reach 51st position after his brilliant knock of 71 in the last Test.

Having made Sri Lanka the first Asian side to win a Test in Barbados, its the players from the Island nation that have gained immensely in the rankings.

Niroshan Dickwella has gained three places to reach 37th after scores of 42 and 6while Dilruwan Perera’s 34 runs in the match, including a fighting 23 not out that anchored the chase, has helped him move up by two slots to take 85th position.

Among their bowlers, stand-in captain Suranga Lakmal has gained one slot to reach a career-best 28th position after picking five wickets in the match, while Lahiru Kumara (up 10 places to 41st) and Kasun Rajitha (up 27 places to 44th) have also made notable gains.

In the Test team Rankings, Sri Lanka and West Indies retain their respective position of Sixth and Ninth. But, having gained rating points from the series against a higher ranked team, West Indies are in a position to go above Bangladesh, if they can win the two Tests series at home next month.
