Justin Langer has compared England's top-order to Australian legends Matthew Hayden, Adam Gilchrist and Ricky Ponting after England created the world record of highest ODI team total of 481 against Australians in the third ODI match at Trent Bridge. England won the match by 242 runs that is also the highest win by any team in One-Day Internationals.

England surprised the cricketing world after making a world record of highest ODI score to which many cricketers took to Twitter to congratulate England on the record-breaking stats.

“I’ve got massive respect for England and the way they are playing their cricket,” Justin Langer said.

“Their top three (Roy, Bairstow and Hales) are brutal,” said Langer. “The way they are playing is reminiscent of how we used to play in our day with Gilly, Matthew Hayden and Ricky Ponting at the top. Langer added.

“It’s a shock,” Langer said after the thrashing that lost the Aussies the ODI series. “That is literally England at its best. It’s no fluke that they are No1 in the world.

“I’ve never seen nothing like that. I was in Johannesburg when Australia got 400 and South Africa then got it, but that was just brutal. Hopefully our young guys can learn from it – it doesn’t get harder than that.” Langer concluded.

The fourth ODI between England and Australia will take place today at Riverside Ground, Chester-le-Street, the match will start at 06 30 PM.
