Ahead of the first against South Africa, the Australian team led by Steve Smith are putting some serious hard yards in their three-day warm-up match against South Africa A at Willowmoore Park, Benoni.
After bundling South Africa A out for just 220 in the first innings, Australian batsmen put up a decent show to take a lead of 109 runs. Opening batsman Cameron Bancroft laid the foundation with a gutsy knock of 45 while skipper Steve Smith chipped in with 23 runs. Later on, Pat Cummins’ fluent 59 and Nathan Lyon’s 38 ensured a handy lead for the visitors.
Amidst the intense warm-up, something amusing happened on Friday (February 23) that made everyone go chuckle in the stadium. In particular, Aussie skipper Steve Smith was seen laughing uncontrollably. Smith was standing in the slip cordon alongside Bancroft when a ball went past the third-man boundary. Bancroft ran towards the boundary to recover the ball but during the process, he suffered an embarrassing moment due to his failed wardrobe malfunction.

"Obviously I field at bat-pad so I keep my jockstrap with my box in it or whatever and an old jockstrap just sort of snapped a bit, down the bottom. So the box part was hanging out and kind of moving around a fair bit in there. It caused a little bit of awkwardness in my running gait and the boys, they don't miss anything so I just had to cop that one," Bancroft told cricket.com.au when asked about this hilarious incident.
The much-anticipated four-match Test series between South Africa and Australia will commence on March 1 in Durban.
