Shoaib Akhtar will be seen in a new role soon. The former Pakistan cricketer has been roped in as the advisor to the chairman on cricket affairs and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) brand ambassador, chairman Najam Sethi announced on Twitter.

The 42-year-old former speedster shared the news with his fans through a tweet. He wrote, "Am honored to be chosen for these positions in @TheRealPCB, will work with same passion as i did when playing.Thank you once again! #ShoaibAkhtar #PCB #BrandAmbassador #Advisor".

The speedster had picked 178 wickets in 46 Tests he played. Akhtar is known as one of the fastest bowler ever in the history of cricket. He has bowled the fastest delivery officially recorded at a top speed of 161.3 km/h.
Akhtar, famously known as Rawalpindi Express, retired from international cricket after the 2011 World Cup. He had a poor outing in the tournament. During the tournament, he announced that he would retire from international cricket at the end of the tournament.
