The one-off Test between India and Bangladesh has started and Indian skipper, Virat Kohli had won the toss and elected to bat first. Talking about the pitch, it has some grass on the surfaces still looks pretty good for batting.
During the toss, Kohli ended all speculations that who will be picked between Ajinkya Rahane and Karun Nair for the match as the skipper has gone with veteran Rahane over Nair, who smashed a triple century in the last match against England in Chennai.
Even on the eve of the test match, Kohli had conceded in the press conference, "One game does not overshadow two years of hard work from another player. That's my point-of-view. You have to understand what Jinx has done for this team. He is probably the most solid batsman in this form of the game."
However, Kohli has heaps of praises for Nair's feat of converting his maiden century into a triple hundred but he conceded that we can't forget Rahane's contribution to the Indian team's in the past couple of years especially in the longest format of the game. Virat said, "What Karun did was remarkable. As I said, you cannot overlook two years of hard work from Ajinkya. He walks back into the team whenever he is fit."
Some of the other players in the past were also there who played some brilliant innings still got dropped in the very next match due to some unavoidable circumstances. The list comprises of players like, Andy Ganteaume (112 vs ENG, 1948), Geoffrey Boycott (246* vs IND, 1967), Arvinda de Silva, (206 vs B'Desh, 2002), Jason Gillespie (201 vs B'Desh, 2006), Shaun Marsh (182 vs WI, 2015). ESPNcricinfo created a detailed video about these players, watch it below.
