Australia’s swashbuckling batsman Glenn Maxwell became the talk of the town after playing a mesmerizing knock of 58-ball 103* against England in the ongoing Twenty20 Trans-Tasman tri-series on Wednesday (February 7).

Maxwell’s herculean effort at the Bellerive Oval Hobart also saw him becoming the only Australian to have two T20I tons next to his name. However, it wouldn’t have been possible without the support of wicket-keeper batsman Alex Carey, who took a much-needed single on the first delivery of the 19th over with Maxwell on 97. A dot ball followed before Maxi smashed the England speedster Mark Wood over deep mid-wicket to complete his milestone.

After the memorable 5-wicket victory, Maxwell acknowledged Carey’s contribution by gifting him a signed Kookaburra bat.

“To Alex, thanks for getting that single. Great partnership again. Best wishes,” the message read.

It was a crucial knock for Maxwell as he was going through a tough phase after being dropped from Australia’s ODI outfit. The 29-year-old had also scored an unbeaten 40 in the first encounter against New Zealand and thereby leading the run-scorer tally in the T20I tri-series with 143 runs to his name at an awe-inspiring strike rate of 174.39.
