Without a shadow of doubt, the cricketing rivalry between India and Pakistan is one of the biggest in the sporting world. It becomes the battle of nerves as well as pride whenever these two South Asian arch-rivals come up against each other on the cricket field. Rivalry aside though, there seems to be a clear case of camaraderie and mutual admiration between the top players of both countries.

Exhibiting one such companionship, legendary Pakistan paceman Waqar Younis asserted that India’s batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar was the most committed player he has ever seen. In fact, Waqar went on to rate the Master Blaster as the best batsman he bowled at during his illustrious 14-year long career. Interestingly, Tendulkar and Waqar made their Test debut in the same Test match back in 1989.

“I played a lot against Tendulkar, and he made his debut against us. Over the years I saw him become a thorough professional and I have not seen such a committed player. He was the best batsman I bowled to, and it used to be a challenge. I always believe that unless you are disciplined particularly in cricket sense, all your talent is of no use to your team,” Waqar Younis was quoted by PTI as saying.

The Pakistani bowling legend also tipped Indian skipper Virat Kohli to break all the batting records in the years to come.

"The way he [Virat] is maintaining his fitness and the way he enjoys his game and focusses on his skill level, I think he is destined to break all batting records in the years to come," Younis said.

Waqar, who had coached Pakistan in two different tenures beside leading his country on quite a few occasions, made it clear that he never compromised on discipline.

"I always believe that unless you are disciplined particularly in cricket sense all your talent is off no use to your team," concluded Waqar Younis.
