Australian off spinner Steven O’ Keefe will replace paceman Josh Hazelwood in the second Test match at Chittagiong. Hazlewood suffered a side strain on the third morning of series opener in Dhaka and walked off the field having bowled just seven balls into his spell. Later, the pacer was ruled out of the Test series and confirmed to be returning home.
Hazelwood came into lime light after his successful Test match series against Australia earlier this year in March. O’ Keefe scalped 19 wickets in the series.
Trevor Hohns, the chairman of the national selection panel, said they were confident of going into the next Test with with Pat Cummins and Jackson Bird as the only specialist seamers in the tourists' squad.
"With Jackson Bird in the squad we are comfortable with our fast-bowling options for the second Test and have elected to add an additional spinner given the conditions we are likely to face in Chittagong," Hohns said in a statement.
