England's young opener Haseeb Hameed said that his main aim is to regain his place in the national side and for which he will try his best in the domestic circuit. He also said that the last few months, which he spent the time away from cricket due to injury, will help him to become a better player and person.

Hameed's poor form cost his place in the England side as Keaton Jennings was picked ahead of him for the recently concluded South African series. However, the right-hander did not upset with this thing and find some positivity from it and said that these experiences will make him a better batsman.

Speaking to BBC Radio Manchester, Haseeb Hameed said, "The last few months haven't gone the way I would have liked but that happens. It's about learning from these experiences, not just completely forget about them, and making sure I keep developing. Sometimes you actually learn more from instances like this."

The 20-year-old further added, "Hopefully I can say in coming years that this three-month period I've had, where it hasn't gone the way I wanted to, helped me become a better player and person."

After recovering from injury, Hameed sashed half century at the domestic level and said if he continues to perform well for Lancashire, then he will definitely get call from the national side. He further added, "England is the aim and to try to take each game as it comes - whoever is that is for, which is Lancashire right now. I will try and perform to the best of my ability for Lancashire and if I can do that then, hopefully, further honors can come again."

Hameed concluded, "If you have a difficult period, there are lots of different things that people think is the reason why. It could be a number of reasons but I'm just looking at putting that to one side now and hopefully approach the second half of the season for myself."
