‘People with your kind of passports should expect this treatment’- Kumar Sangakkara shares more details of ‘racial’ treatment by Ryanair official

Ryanair is a low cost airlines with headquarters in Swords, County Dublin, Ireland.

Kumar Sangakkara | GettyKumar Sangakkara, legendary batter-keeper from Sri Lanka, has detailed the ‘racial’ discrimination incident that happened to him and his family at the Dublin airport in Ireland. He has previously posted about the Ryanair gate staff behaving in a discriminatory and threatening manner.

In his initial blog, the current head coach of Rajasthan Royals referred to the incident as absolutely shocking and unacceptable. He even criticized the airline personnel for their behavior towards him and his family.

"Has anyone experienced discriminatory gate personnel @Ryanair in Dublin? My family and I just did, and it was shocking. The tone of address, the mishandling of procedures and the threatening behaviour were unacceptable for any passenger. First bad experience in Dublin," Sangakkara shared on X, tagging Ryanair.

However, someone made a comment on Sangakkara’s post sharing a quote “When people get used to preferential treatment, equal treatment feels like discrimination.”

This led to Kumar Sangakkara replying to that particular comment and sharing details about the incident, claiming that he was told passengers holding passports like his should expect such treatment.

"When told people like you with your kind of passports should expect this treatment and that if we argued against that obviously disgusting comment, we would be considered a threat to other passengers and not boarded, is not treating everyone exactly the same, but it is racist," Sangakkara wrote in reply.

Ryanair has not yet made a public response regarding the accusations.
