Explosive India opener Abhishek Sharma has regained his no. 1 rank in the latest ICC T20I rankings update on October 28, 2026. He dethroned his India teammate Ishan Kishan, thanks to his stunning century in the recent third T20I between India and New Zealand in Wellington on October 27.
As India easily won the game by six wickets, Abhishek was in excellent form, reaching his century in just 35 balls and finishing with 113 from 38 deliveries. The innings was plenty for the left-hander to overtake colleague Ishan Kishan and reclaim the top spot among T20I batters.
Kishan claimed the top spot from Abhishek in July of this year after some solid performances in Ireland, while Abhishek had first reached the No. 1 ranking back in July 2025, when he surpassed Australia's Travis Head.
On the other hand, South Africa’s Marco Jansen attained the no. 1 rank in both the ICC Test bowling and all-rounder rankings. This is the first time Jansen has attained top billing in both categories in his cricketing career, on the back of a stellar performance in the ongoing three-Test series between Australia and South Africa.
In the second Test of the series that was played in Gqeberha, Jansen made 85 runs to help Temba Bavuma (179) and take South Africa from 110/6 to 425/9. He then returned with five wickets in Australia’s first innings as well.
Thanks to this performance, Jansen also moved to the 56th spot in the ICC Test batting rankings, moved up 5 places to dethrone Mitchell Starc as the No. 1 ranked Test bowler, and also ended Ravindra Jadeja’s long reign as the no. 1 ranked Test all-rounder.
Jadeja had held that mantle for more than four years, with Jansen rising to the top of the charts for Test all-rounders for the first time.
South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma has also climbed the rankings, moving up four places to second overall among Test batters after his Player of the Match performance against the Aussies in the second Test. England captain Harry Brook is now the only player ahead of the South African skipper in the rankings for Test batters.
Australia pacer Scott Boland moved to sixth spot in Test bowling rankings, while South Africa spinner Simon Harmer moved to 8th spot in Test all-rounders’ rankings.
