Playing as a guest player for Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) against Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) in the third round of the President's Trophy Grade-I at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium, his highly anticipated stay at the crease lasted only 20 balls.

While Babar’s appearance in domestic cricket drew a massive crowd, the passionate fans were left dejected as the veteran batter was bounced out by Arshad Iqbal.

The right-arm pacer cramped him up with a sharp, short delivery aimed into the rib cage. The Pakistan Test captain attempted to play a pull shot but failed to control it, leading to a simple catch at short mid-on by Abdul Faseeh.
