Delhi cricketer Vansh Bedi, who played as a wicketkeeper-batter for the Central Delhi Kings in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026, has become the talk of the town for reporting a corrupt approach by a cricketer from a neighboring state.
On Tuesday (September 22), the DDCA confirmed that Bedi followed anti-corruption protocols by immediately reporting the approach. The association is currently awaiting formal guidance from the BCCI Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) on how to proceed with the investigation.
A day prior to the DDCA's announcement regarding Bedi, an undercover sting operation broadcast by Tehelka leveled serious match-fixing and spot-fixing allegations against former Ranji Trophy player Rachit Bhatia.
Bhatia was caught on camera claiming he fixed five IPL 2025 matches by leaking the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) playing XI to London-based bookmakers via Snapchat before the toss using a source inside the team.
Additionally, Bhatia claimed to have executed similar information leaks and fixing operations multiple times during the DPL.
Amid the recent development, Vansh Bedi issued a statement via social media, clarifying that he isn’t the individual referred by Rachit Bhatia in the sting operation.
“I would like to clarify certain false and defamatory content circulating on social media and websites concerning me. I categorically state that I am not the individual referred to by Ex-Ranji Trophy cricketer Rachit Bhatia in the Tehelka sting operation concerning alleged match-fixing involving a CSK player, nor do I have any involvement whatsoever in any such activity,” Bedi wrote in a statement shared on Instagram.
“Any attempt to falsely link me with these allegations is highly defamatory. My legal team is taking appropriate civil and criminal action against those responsible. I request everyone to refrain from creating or sharing such false and defamatory content,” he added.
CSK signed Bedi at the IPL 2025 auction for INR 55 lakh, but he didn’t play a match. He was initially named in the team sheet for a match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru but later removed for Deepak Hooda. The Chennai-based franchise released him ahead of the 2026 season.
