Former Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar is the new victim of Twitter trolling. Pakistan got their first Hindu cabinet member in twenty years, and Akhtar -- trying to show how secular their country is-- messed up on Twitter.Â
President Mamnoon Hussain on Friday sworn-in the new Cabinet led by interim prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, which also included Dr. Darshan Lal, a PML-N legislator from Sindh province. According to The Indian Express, Lal used to be a doctor in Sindh's Ghotki district. Sindh is home to about 90 percent of Pakistan's Hindu population.
Shoaib Akhtar trying to spread the message goofed up big time. He shared a picture of President Mamnoon Hussain administering the Prime Minister oath to the new Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
However, in his caption for the same, he referred the new Prime Minister as a 'Hindu Political leader' in his post. He tweeted, "A Hindu political leader Mr Darshan Lal is now a cabinet minister in Pakistan. This is our polite way of saying Pakistan is a secular state."
The tweet didn't go well. He was trolled for his improper caption and the relevance cited. Shoaib Akhtar was quick to get back to the trolling fans with another tweet. This time around, he mentioned that the actual sentiment behind the tweet must be understood. He just wants to spread the word that Pakistan is a secular state. "Friends, rather dan questioning my IQ plz concentrate on d message: We respect ALL religions. BTW oath pic in the last tweet was a reference," Akhtar tweeted again.Â
